Mayor Beth Wythe

Homer Mayor Beth Wythe plans to try her hand in the State House. Wythe has filed a letter of intent to run for the House District 31 seat to represent the Southern Kenai Peninsula.

Representative Paul Seaton currently holds that seat.

According to Michael Armstrong with the Homer News Wythe is a registered Republican and will challenge Seaton in the Republican Primary next August.

Wythe says people have asked her to run for the legislature for more than a year and after her time serving the city of Homer; she calls the move “a natural progression.”

Wythe has served eight years on the Homer City Council and she was elected for her second term as Homer’s mayor in 2014.
