Winter King Tournament Postponed Until March 25 Due To Weather

www.homeralaska.org

The 2017 Winter King Tournament has been postponed by a week due to weather concerns.

According to a release from the Homer Chamber of Commerce, weather forecasts for the week call for continued cold temperatures and north winds.

The chamber said out of concern for the safety of participants, they have made the decision to push back the tournament to March 25.

An abundance of ice at the harbor due to the chilly weather also means more potential for damage to boats and harbor infrastructure.

Everyone who has already registered for the tournament will have their registrations automatically transferred to the new date.

The chamber noted all fishermen who signed up for the first date have been contacted by email and they apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
