Seaton Talks About What's on Table for Special Session

This past Friday, the most recent special session of the legislature ended and Sunday, Governor Bill Walker called a new one.

The Governor wants the legislature to address three things: restructuring the Permanent Fund Dividend; addressing an income tax and other taxes; and oil and gas industry taxes and tax credits.

KBBI News Director, Daysha Eaton, talks with Homer Representative Paul Seaton about what’s next.

The next special session of the 29th Alaska State Legislature is set to start in Juneau on July 11th and is scheduled to last 30 days.

Legislative leaders told Alaska Dispatch News today that are considering holding the upcoming special session at the Legislature's new Anchorage office building before the lease expires rather than in Juneau as Governor Bill Walker ordered.

Walker issued an executive order Sunday setting the Legislature's second special session of the year to start July 11 in Juneau.

Senate President Kevin Meyer said Tuesday that there is sufficient support to justify an Anchorage special session. Critics say it could be more expensive.
