One dead, two injured in boating accident

Alaska State Troopers say a boating accident in the Matanuska-Susistna Borough Saturday killed one woman and seriously injured two others. The Homer Newsreported that the two women injured in the crash are Homer residents Alice Rademacher and Rosie Robinson.

Both work at the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve. KBBI reached out to the reserve but did receive a call back in time for this story.

Troopers say 35-year-old Anchorage resident Jennifer Horazdovsky died in the accident. Homer News reports that Rademacher is in a coma and receiving care at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Robinson is awaiting care at Mat-Su Regional Hospital.

According to a Trooper dispatch, Reagan Martz of Anchorage was operating one of the boats on Flat Lake with seven passengers on board. Martz was allegedly making a turn around an island when he struck a raft with three passengers on board. Troopers say the raft was being towed by a second vessel.

Martz allegedly left the scene, but was later arrested for driving under the influence. Troopers charged Martz with manslaughter and three felony counts of assault.
