Kenai Peninsula Couple Get Set for Round-the-World Medical Motorcycle Trip

A Kenai Peninsula couple has some unusual plans for the next chapter in their life. With their children grown, Randy McKinney and Lana Clymer McKinney, who live north of Homer, plan to leave their home to cross more than 80 countries by motorcycle while treating children for dysentery. KBBI News Director, Daysha Eaton, talks the McKinneys, who plan to take off in July.

The McKinneys expect their journey to take at least three to four years. They’re looking for sponsors and volunteers who want to join them on the trip, particularly medical providers.

Daysha Eaton holds a B.A. from Evergreen State College, and a M.A. from the University of Southern California. Daysha got her start in radio at Seattle public radio stations, KPLU and KUOW. Before coming to KBBI, she was the News Director at KYUK in Bethel. She has also worked as the Southcentral Reporter for KSKA in Anchorage.
