Homer High Team Takes Fourth at Ocean Bowl

Six Homer High School students participated in the 19th Alaska Tsunami Ocean Sciences Bowl in Seward this past weekend. The team came in fourth, overall. They scored fourth on their research paper and first in a remote operating vehicle challenge. They also placed in the art show.  

Mat-Su Career and Technical High School won first place at the bowl, with Juneau-Douglas High School taking both second and third, with their two teams.

The regional competition for Alaska high schools on topics related to the study of the oceans is part of the annual National Ocean Sciences Bowl.

Fifteen schools from throughout the state participated. The winning team of the event competes against other regional teams from all over the country.

The competition took place February 26th through the 28th.

Homer students that participated include: Jay-Mason Davis, Nolan Bunting, Cody Bond, Landon Bunting, Kalen Molodih, and Galen Lyon.
