Homer boys soccer team takes third in state tournament

Homer High School

The Homer boys soccer team placed third in the Division II state tournament in Anchorage last week. The boys won their first game against Grace Christian 5-1, but dropped their second game to Kenai Central 0-2 on Friday. The boys shut down North Pole on Saturday 3-0.

Head coach Warren Waldorf says he’s happy with the season, but he says the program is losing several key players going into next season.

“Simon Dye is the number one leading all-time scorer for the Homer boys soccer program and Charles Rohr is the second and Oliver Beck is the third leading all-time scorer,” Waldorf said. “So we’re losing, this year in the graduation class, the three top leading all-time scorers, and that’s why it will be difficult for the underclassmen to step into shoes that are empty next year.”

Team members Jordan Beachy, Timothy Blakely and Charlie Menke are also graduating this year.
