Open House on Sterling Highway to Take Place in Anchorage

Staff Report

The state Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is having an open house and presentation in Anchorage that will detail a Sterling Highway construction project extending onto the Kenai Peninsula.

In a press release Monday, DOT announced the presentation for The Sterling Highway project that involves construction and rehabilitation of the highway from Sunrise to Skilak Lake Road.  Plans also call for the possible realignment of up to eleven miles of highway to a new location, further from the Kenai River.

The open house is intended to update the public on the project and take input about alternative routes for the proposed realignments.  It will be held from 4:30 to 7 pm Tuesday night at the DOT Central Region Headquarters.  An email to the DOT asking if other presentations are planned closer to the proposed construction sites was not immediately returned.
