FDA Issues Fruit Recall

Shady Grove Oliver

There has been a nationwide recall of certain peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots. The fruit is distributed by Wawona Packing Company.

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation has confirmed the fruit is available in Alaska.

The recall only affects certain lots of the fresh fruit packed between June 1 and July 12. Those lots may be contaminated with Listeria, which can cause the disease listeriosis.

As of July 22, there have been no illnesses or reactions reported in Alaska.

The DEC recommends that anyone who has purchased the affected fruit should not consume it and should discard it.

Information on the recall can be found via dec.alaska.gov.
