Chamber to Sponsor Christmas Tree Lighting in Homer

Staff Report

The Homer Chamber of Commerce is hoping to start a new tradition in Homer – an annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The chamber announced Tuesday that it will hold what it hopes is the first annual tree lighting Friday at 5 p.m. in the Chamber parking lot.

In a news release, Chamber Executive Director Monte Davis promised that Santa Claus would be on hand at the tree lighting to flip the switch and light a 60-foot spruce tree. The community event will also feature hot chocolate, S’mores, cookies and Christmas music. Local kids will have an opportunity to speak with Santa following the lighting of the tree.
